Sample questions from this chapter

What is the value of i³?
  1. −i ✓
  2. i
  3. 1
  4. −1
Answer: A. i³ = i² × i = (−1) × i = −i. The powers of i cycle i, −1, −i, 1 and then repeat.
Why not B: i is i¹ (or i⁵). Cubing must change the value, and it does: the minus sign comes from i² = −1.
Why not C: 1 is i⁴, one power further on.
Why not D: −1 is i², one power short.
What is (1 + i)²?
  1. 2i ✓
  2. 2 + 2i
  3. 1 + 2i
  4. 0
Answer: A. (1 + i)² = 1 + 2i + i² = 1 + 2i − 1 = 2i. The real parts cancel exactly.
Why not B: Uses i² = +1, so the last term adds 1 instead of subtracting it: 1 + 2i + 1.
Why not C: Forgets the i² term altogether, keeping only 1 + 2i.
Why not D: Squares each term separately as 1² + i² = 1 − 1, losing the cross term 2i.
If z = (1 + i)/(1 − i), what is z⁴?
  1. 1 ✓
  2. i
  3. −1
  4. −i
Answer: A. Multiplying top and bottom by 1 + i gives z = 2i/2 = i. Then z⁴ = i⁴ = 1.
Why not B: Reports z itself. The fourth power has not been taken.
Why not C: −1 is z², which is halfway there.
Why not D: −i is z³, one power short.

Questions

How many NEET questions are there on Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations?

This chapter test has 30 questions — 10 easy, 14 medium and 6 hard — all written against the NCERT Class 11 chapter.

Is this NEET Maths chapter test free?

Yes. Every chapter test is free with no login, and you get your all-India rank on every one. Nothing on the site is on sale right now.

Do the questions explain the wrong options?

Yes — every distractor carries its own explanation naming the specific misconception that makes a student pick it. That is the part most question banks skip, and it is the part that changes your next attempt.
