Sample questions from this chapter

What defines periodic motion?
  1. Motion that repeats after equal time intervals ✓
  2. Motion that always follows a straight line
  3. Motion with constant velocity only
  4. Motion that never returns to a previous state
Answer: A. Periodic motion reproduces its state after a fixed least interval called the period.
Why not B: A periodic trajectory may be curved, rotational or oscillatory.
Why not C: Constant-velocity motion on an unbounded line does not repeat its state.
Why not D: Failure to recur is the opposite of periodic behaviour.
An oscillator makes 120 complete cycles per minute. What is its frequency?
  1. 120 Hz
  2. 0.500 Hz
  3. 2.00 Hz ✓
  4. 60.0 Hz
Answer: C. ν=120/60=2.00 cycles per second or 2.00 Hz.
Why not A: This treats one minute as one second.
Why not B: This divides 60 by 120, calculating the period in seconds instead.
Why not D: This divides the cycle count by two rather than by 60 seconds.
A 1.00 kg mass oscillates on a 100 N m⁻¹ spring. What is its period?
  1. 0.628 s ✓
  2. 0.100 s
  3. 6.28 s
  4. 10.0 s
Answer: A. T=2π√(1.00/100)=2π(0.100)=0.628 s.
Why not B: This uses √(m/k) but omits the factor 2π.
Why not C: This takes √(k/m)=10 as though its reciprocal were one second.
Why not D: This reports angular frequency 10 rad s⁻¹ as a time.

Questions

How many NEET and JEE questions are there on Oscillations?

This chapter test has 30 questions — 10 easy, 14 medium and 6 hard — all written against the NCERT Class 11 chapter.

Is this NEET and JEE Physics chapter test free?

Yes. Every chapter test is free with no login, and you get your all-India rank on every one. Nothing on the site is on sale right now.

Do the questions explain the wrong options?

Yes — every distractor carries its own explanation naming the specific misconception that makes a student pick it. That is the part most question banks skip, and it is the part that changes your next attempt.
