Sample questions from this chapter

The principal value of sin⁻¹(1/2) is
  1. π/6 ✓
  2. 5π/6
  3. π/3
  4. −π/6
Answer: A. π/6 lies in [−π/2,π/2] and sin(π/6)=1/2.
Why not B: 5π/6 has the right sine but lies outside the principal range [−π/2,π/2].
Why not C: This swaps the standard sine values of π/6 and π/3.
Why not D: The sign is lost: sin(−π/6)=−1/2.
The principal value of cos⁻¹(−1/2) is
  1. −2π/3
  2. π/3
  3. 2π/3 ✓
  4. 4π/3
Answer: C. Cosine is −1/2 in quadrant II at 2π/3, which lies in [0,π].
Why not A: It has the right cosine but lies outside [0,π].
Why not B: The negative sign of the cosine is ignored.
Why not D: It is coterminal with −2π/3 but outside the principal range.
If tan⁻¹x + tan⁻¹(2x)=π/4 for x>0, then x equals
  1. (√17−3)/4 ✓
  2. 1/2
  3. 1
  4. (√17+3)/4
Answer: A. Taking tangent gives 1=3x/(1−2x²), so 2x²+3x−1=0. Its positive root is (√17−3)/4.
Why not B: It adds x+2x but omits the denominator 1−2x².
Why not C: At x=1 the sum exceeds π/2, not π/4.
Why not D: This takes the positive magnitude from the negative quadratic root; the sign before 3 is reversed.

Questions

How many NEET questions are there on Inverse Trigonometric Functions?

This chapter test has 30 questions — 10 easy, 14 medium and 6 hard — all written against the NCERT Class 12 chapter.

Is this NEET Maths chapter test free?

Yes. Every chapter test is free with no login, and you get your all-India rank on every one. Nothing on the site is on sale right now.

Do the questions explain the wrong options?

Yes — every distractor carries its own explanation naming the specific misconception that makes a student pick it. That is the part most question banks skip, and it is the part that changes your next attempt.
